The Yokogawa UT55A and UT52A are advanced digital indicating controllers that balance ease-of-use with the power to handle the most challenging applications. Available in 1/8 DIN (model UT52A) and 1/4 DIN (model UT55A), these controllers offer greatly improved measurement, display, operation, control, and networking functions that enhance the efficiency of user design and save money by eliminating the need for peripheral devices and associated wiring.
The Yokogawa UT55A and UT52A are preset with 8 control functions and 8 control algorithms. These built-in functions include those most commonly used such as single-loop control, cascade control, loop control, PID control, ON/OFF control and heating/cooling control. Three digital inputs and three digital outputs are included as standard with additional input/output configurations available as options.
Indicating controllers typically require complex configuration and programming due to product incompatibility, required peripheral devices and differences in communications protocols. The Yokogawa UT55A and UT52A overcome these limitations by incorporating a sequence control function based on ladder logic programming. Built-in switch, relay, lamp, and timer functions are provided by ladder sequence function, eliminating the need for peripheral devices and wiring to these devices. The use of the popular ladder logic programming language also helps engineers carry out their design tasks with greater efficiency. Additionally, by adopting open system architecture which complies with Ethernet and PROFIBUS DP protocols, the UT52A and UT55A make it easy to develop multi-vendor systems for users by eliminating the need for dedicated communication programs and/or converters for connecting to devices such as a data-acquisition unit or PLC.
The Yokogawa UT55A and UT52A employ a 14-segment color LCD display which is easier to read than conventional displays, along with new guidance screens and navigation keys that aid programming and help prevent operator errors. An Active color feature allows users to see the status of a process at a glance. The controller menus and layout are adjusted in accordance with the level (EASY, STD, PRO) of information required by the user. If simple temperature or level control is needed, then select the easy configuration. For sophisticated applications, select the PRO setting and make use of the additional functionality shown in this mode.
The Yokogawa UT55A and UT52A advanced digital indicating controllers are targeted primarily for machining facilities in the semiconductor, automobile, electrical equipment, machinery, chemical, and food industries, as well as in-plant equipment such as air conditioners and power supplies. Applications include the measurement, display, and control of temperature, pressure, and flow rate in research, development and manufacturing operations such as heat treatment, washing and sterilizing processes.
